Dean of Student Life and Leadership: St. Gabriel School

Position Open: Dean of Student Life and Leadership Founded in 1963 by the Sisters of Holy Humility of Mary, St. Gabriel School is a coeducational Catholic elementary school committed to educating children in our Catholic faith by challenging them to be the leaders in faith. With a population of approximately 570 students from Junior Kindergarten to 8th Grade, St. Gabriel School fosters a positive learning environment by focusing on the needs of the whole child and living our school’s mission of “being Christ every day, everywhere through teaching, learning, leading, and serving.”

Position Qualifications: • A practicing Catholic who upholds the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. • Master’s degree in education or other related field of study preferred. • Five (5) years teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic elementary school. • Ability to successfully pass FBI and BCI background checks, and VIRTUS certification. • Hold or be willing to obtain religious certification through the Diocese of Cleveland.

Preferred Qualifications: • Desire to work in an environment that seeks to increase student growth & achievement. • Experience with addressing student behaviors and social/emotional learning. • Experience developing student leadership. • Work as a part of school and parish leadership teams. • Utilizing technology in a school setting. Major Responsibilities: • Address student behavior across all grade levels Junior K to 8th Grade. • Manage school personnel in charge of supervising lunch and recess. • Coordinate extra-curricular activities and grade level field trips. • Support the development of student faith formation. • Lead school activities across all grades. • Organize school-wide and grade level programming/presentations for students. • Communicate with families about student concerns. • Lead a Student Council Program. • Represent St. Gabriel School at school functions. • Revise student/parent handbook, school dress code, and other school documents. • Mentor students that need additional resources from a role model. • Develop initiatives that promote student engagement, leadership, and personal growth. • Participate in school accreditation process. • Complete classroom observations and work with teachers on classroom management techniques. • Assume other administrative duties as requested.
