Avon Catholic Community Represented by: Holy Trinity Parish, Avon St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Avon Diocese of Cleveland Position: Parish Catechetical Leader Classification: Salaried - Exempt - Full Time Supervisor: Pastor Job Summary: The primary objectives of this position are to provide for the development, implementation and evaluation of initial and ongoing education and faith formation programs and processes for families, children and youth. Essential Functions: Work in collaboration with the parish pastoral team in realizing the spiritual formation goals of the Parishes and the Diocese of Cleveland. To report to and consult with the Pastor regarding the catechesis of families, children and youth. To assess catechetical needs, plan, design, implement, and evaluate with the pastoral team a comprehensive vision for parish catechetical programs for adults, families, children and youth. To provide program, curriculum design, development, and resources for catechesis at all levels: Faith Formation programs for children, youth and families consisting of 1st through 8th grade students from our parish, day school and homeschool families within the parish communities. Sacrament Preparation: First Reconciliation First Eucharist Confirmation Collaborate with youth ministry team to provide catechetical opportunities for youth groups Collaborate with the Pastor and the Pastoral Team on various topics to enhance the vision and vitality of the parish community including: Order of Christian Initiation of Adults Catechumenate for Children Infant Baptism Preparation Sacrament of Marriage Preparation Ongoing Adult Faith Formation The Parish Community as an entire body To recruit catechists and other volunteers and provide for their training, formation, ongoing development, supervision and evaluation. To supervise the parish Catechetical Staff. To develop and monitor, in consultation with the Pastor, the catechetical budget for the parishes. To develop the annual calendar of meetings, catechetical sessions and special events in consultation with the pastoral team. To evaluate and modify parish catechetical programs in collaboration with the Pastor to reflect changing needs. To attend parish-related meetings required by the Pastor To maintain those parish records determined necessary by the Pastor and Diocesan policy. To research, review, and purchase appropriate texts and supplementary materials. To organize, supervise, and maintain the catechetical office. To direct, supervise and evaluate the religious education office staff/personnel in consultation with the Pastor. To reflect the vision of the Universal Church in the focus of this office. To perform other duties related to catechesis and faith formation at the request of the Pastor. Position Specification / Requirements Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Must be a practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the philosophy of total Catholic Education and spiritual formation. Master’s Degree in Religious Education, Theology or related field OR Completion of Diocese of Cleveland certification process for Ministry. Experience in Administration and Catechesis Good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work in a team environment Proficient in Google Workspace
