SOCIAL STUDIES - FULL TIME
Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is seeking candidates for a Social Studies Teacher. The individual will serve as a full-time teacher in our Catholic High School and will be responsible for teaching classes as assigned by the principal. Implement the curriculum in accordance with the standards set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Ohio Department of Education The ideal candidate will have experience in rigorous planning and implementation, background in a diverse school environment, effective integration of technology, and the ability to equitably assess all students. Other job responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating with parents and colleagues in a professional manner, participation in faculty or committee meetings, participation in school retreats, and supervising students in a variety of settings.
Responsibilities Include:
- Instruct students in Social Studies for different grade levels and at various achievement levels
- Maintain up-to-date lesson plans; develop rubrics for projects and other class activities; and implement the provided curriculum with fidelity
- Prepare engaging lessons and units that promote skills, knowledge, and critical thinking consistent with course outcomes
- Work collaboratively with staff for the good of students and the school.
- Create an atmosphere in which students feel safe and welcomed.
- Communicate regular feedback about student progress; maintain open and timely communication with parents.
- Stay current with classroom technology applications and regularly incorporate them into lesson plans.
- Actively supervise students at all times
- Uphold the values of the Catholic faith
Job Requirements:
- BA or BS in History Education for secondary schools
- Ohio teaching license or RE license in secondary education. An Integrated Social Studies Teaching license is preferred.
- Able to pass FBI/BCI background check
- VIRTUS certified or willing to be certified
- Experience teaching urban high school students
