General Summary of the Position
The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and janitorial needs throughout the premises.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
- Keeps a log of any tasks to be completed and informs the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.
– Obtain Diocesan group access and clearance to maintain the security of the buildings.
– Keeps a log of room reservations for tenants and Diocesan Entity Organizations.
– Ensures building access means are assigned to tenants, Diocesan Entity Organizations and are returned in working order daily.
– Ensures meeting rooms are in working order after meetings.
– Ensures all building interior and exterior doors are locked.
– Distribute mail for tenants.
– Distribute janitorial supplies.
– Perform janitorial tasks as needed.
– Make minor landscaping repairs including irrigating plants and checking that the sprinkler system is properly functioning, may include mowing, edging, picking up grass clippings and blowing the premises; trimming trees and bushes, raking and bagging leaves and replacing seasonal plants as needed.
– Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of building facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.
– Inspects the exteriors and interiors of all buildings, and grounds; performs minor repairs as needed.
– Ensures property grounds are aesthetically pleasing and maintained in proper working order, including ice and snow removal with hand shovels and blowing sidewalks.
– Identifies and immediately reports needed major repairs on building structures and building systems, including furniture, hardware and equipment.
– Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.
– Move, install, assemble and repair all building furniture as needed.
– Must have experience working a maintenance role and skilled with various hand and power tools.
– Responsible for reporting any security system issues for the property to the Director of Facilities and Maintenance.
– Maintains tools, equipment and assigned work area in a clean and safe condition.
– Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
– Knowledge of basic routine maintenance and repair procedures.
– Ability to operate hand and power tools.
– Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
– Ability to communicate effectively (verbally).
– Proficient in computer skills.
– Ability to work independently and with a group.
– Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
– Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
– Strong attention to detail.
– Hard worker who is a self-starter and proactive.
– Time management assertiveness to adjust to specific duties.
– Responsible for after-hours emergency maintenance service as needed.
– Must be available by cell phone as required for on-call maintenance or emergency services.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Education and Experience:
– High school diploma
– 5 years of facilities/maintenance experience
Special Requirements:
– All candidates must be able to pass background checks and comply with Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program
– Must maintain a valid Texas commercial driver’s license
– A Catholic in good standing is preferred.

- Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying.
- Work outside and around moving objects and/or vehicles
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer) and loud noises
- Able to lift 50 pounds
