What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Catholic Diocese of Evansville?
We ask that all those interested in substitute teaching complete the Application packet and Additional Information forms found at https://www.evdio.org/substitute-teacher-application-instructions.html. There are also 2 background checks and Safe Environment training that must be completed. The completed application packet materials must be submitted to cso@evdio.org. The Catholic Schools Office maintains a master file of substitute teachers. As substitute teacher files are completed, applicant names will be added to the Approved Substitute Teacher List, which the Principals have access to. Substitute teachers are called on an as-needed basis by the individual schools. Pay varies at each location, and I-9 and W-4 forms will need to be completed at each employing school.
In order to be considered for substitute teaching, an applicant will need a valid Indiana Substitute Teacher's Permit, or a valid Indiana Teacher's License. Applicants who receive an Indiana Substitute Teacher's Permit through this office will receive the original certificate for their own file. The Catholic Schools Office will keep a copy of the permit in the applicant's file. Those applying for a substitute teacher's permit will need to have 30 college hours of credit, as verified by college transcript.
