Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Lumen Christi Catholic High School is seeking a skilled and compassionate School Social Worker to support the holistic well-being of its students. Applicants should hold a certification of MSW or LPC. Lumen Christi is looking for a faith-filled applicant who prioritizes their faith in interactions with colleagues and students. The social worker will provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and support services. Working in collaboration with the school counselor team, administrators, teachers, and families, the social worker will provide advocate for students' needs, connect them with community resources, and promote a positive, faith-based school environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in school social work, a deep understanding of adolescent development, and the ability to provide therapeutic support to students, all within the framework of the school's Catholic mission.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Education :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.

Experience :

Must enjoy young adults and have experience working with them.

Must have excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well organized. Must be proficient in the use of computers and educational software, including using distance learning and social media platforms.

Catholic Teacher :

Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church. Must have a strong working knowledge of the Faith; certification as a lay minister preferred. Must pass a criminal background check and complete the Protecting God's Children program.

Physical Demands :

While performing duties, employee has to walk up and down stairs, sit, stoop, squat, stand, reach, talk, hear, read, write, use a computer, and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. Teachers are in close physical contact with their students through teaching in the classroom. Teachers will also be in close physical contact with coworkers and parents during meetings throughout the school year.

Environmental :

Adapting to a variety of different environments is necessary for all educators. While most educators work primarily in indoor environments, there are several circumstances in which an educator might work outdoors or outside of the school grounds. Field trips require educators to supervise students on buses, in addition to the trip destination.
