What are the responsibilities and job description for the Small Group Coordinator position at Catholic Diocese of Lansing?
Lansing Catholic High School is now accepting applications for a Small Group Coordinator. Qualified candidates are asked to please submit the online application and attach a cover letter and resume.
Position Purpose:
The Small Group Coordinator’s foremost responsibility is to help students foster relationships with Christ and support them in defending and keeping the faith for the rest of their lives, and especially through college.
Research and Scripture have shown that the most effective way to do this is through small group discipleship where students are received into an intentional community led by a mentor. This model of evangelization is the same model that Christ used to evangelize roughly 2000 years ago. It is the role of the coordinators to recruit, train, and disciple adult mentors so that they may disciple small groups of LCHS students to keep the faith. The Small Group Coordinators will partner with Andrews Ministries to help form small groups
here at LCHS. The coordinator also offers monthly prayer events for students and mentors to have ongoing encounters with the Lord and to continue to build their relationships with
the Lord.

the Lord.
It is important for Small Group Coordinators to actively take steps to be spiritually healthy themselves by attending the Sacraments regularly, going to spiritual direction every month, and spending time with the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration. Their role is to imitate Christ and disciple mentors so mentors can disciple their student groups at a high level of excellency.
Most importantly, the Small Group Coordinators work to transition students from high school to college. They will partner with Newman Centers, UCO, FOCUS Missionaries, and other campus ministries and offer personal contacts to graduating LCHS students. The coordinators meet with LCHS alumni to ensure smooth faith transitions in college.
The small group formation program at LCHS requires one male coordinator to disciple male mentors and students and one female mentor to disciple female mentors and students. Both Small Group Coordinators will report to the priest chaplain who currently serves at the Dean of Spiritual Formation at LCHS.
