Catholic Financial Life, a Trusted Fraternal Life brand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our team! this individual will work closely with the Controller to optimize efficiency and effectiveness to streamline planning, processing and reporting. The Senior Accountant will perform analysis of financial statements, assist in strategic initiatives, manage special projects from inception to completion and make independent judgements which have an impact on the Society. A high level of initiative, ownership of responsibilities, attention to detail and strong problem solving skills are necessary.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Accountant, you will:
- Prepares and reviews reporting and financial statements for completeness and accuracy
- Processes general ledger entries and corresponding reconciliations
- Manages audit requirements, account reconciliations and policy accounting
- Research applicable regulations for special situations and compliance
- Manages Society’s credit card process
- Manages accounting for Society’s charitable foundation and subsidiaries
- Collaborates on the Society’s regulatory and tax reporting
- Special projects as needed
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-10 years of increasingly responsible experience
- Insurance industry experience a plus
- Familiarity with the financial services industry and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Proficient with financial statements and a demonstrated understanding of key financial concepts
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a high level of professionalism
- Self-starter with excellent teamwork skills and an innate sense of urgency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn proprietary software
