Primary Purpose:
The Marketing and Communications Associate develops and implements the marketing and communications programs of the Catholic Foundation of Southern Minnesota and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary. The goal is to build awareness, increase social media presence, ensure clear communication and ultimately increase fundraising. This person is responsible for communicating through several different media forms (social media, websites, newsletters, online newsletters, etc.) and exploring communication trends and opportunities. Experience with campaign management and comfort with processing and analyzing data is appreciated. The Marketing and Communications Associate supports all internal and external communication initiatives and events.
Essential Job Functions:
Marketing Analysis
- Analyze and report on website traffic and social media engagement.
- Research and implement marketing tools and systems to support our promotional projects.
Media and Advertising
- Assist in the development of all marketing initiatives and campaigns.
- Research, contact and interview people related to our Mission and campaigns. Use interview materials to write articles and various text materials.
- Draft, proof and implement marketing materials in a variety of contexts (on social media, in print, via email, etc.).
- Develop and maintain internal and external communication systems (newsletters, emails, announcements, etc.).
- Support, maintain and strengthen overall brand in all forms of media.
- Manage all social media sites through posting, comment moderation and general monitoring.
- Coordinate with graphic designer, mailing houses and other promotional vendors.
Web Development
- Manage and review the content of our websites to ensure they are current, dynamic and relevant.
- Write, execute, and deploy email marketing campaigns and web content.
- Review web analytics and campaigns on an ongoing basis and generate monthly reports regarding site traffic.
Events
- Assist in coordination and organization of all special events (registration, invitations, promotion, etc.).
- Assist in development and execution as needed, of on-site events (information weekends, parents’ weekend, meetings, fundraising dinners, etc.).
- Manage IHMS, CFSM and liturgical event calendars (both internal and externally).
Other Responsibilities
- Inventory of marketing / communication / acknowledgement materials and supplies.
- Coordination with seminarians to create, compile and distribute promotional materials.
- Photograph relevant events, people and places as needed.
- Manage and organize photo and file databases for the benefit of CFSM and IHMS.
- Assist CFSM staff with overflow tasks as needed. This may include monthly reporting emails, donation and letter processing, scanning of donation documents, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Creative and informational writing skills.
- Proficiency in and knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook email, Teams, Adobe, Dropbox, video and photo editing software, etc.
- Ability to create marketing and public relations materials, including direct mail, print and social media.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a team.
- Keen eye for detail and ability to produce high quality content.
- Strong creativity and marketing skills. Ability to generate multiple and varied ideas.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and competing work demands.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, English, marketing or other business-related fields (preferred).
- 2 years’ experience working in marketing / communications
