Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
- Registered nurse with a B.A. / B.S. Degree in nursing, In lieu of B.A/B.S. Degree, must have ten (10) years of experience as a registered nurse in a cardiac device/pacer role as determined by management.
- ACLS or equivalent training required within one-year of employment.
- BLS certification required
- NASPE certification (Testamur NASPExam AP - Cardiac Pacing and Cardioversion Defibrillations) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working within a Critical Care, Cardiology, Electrophysiology, or similar specialty environment is required
- Previous training/experience in Clinical Cardiology and/or cardiac device management is preferred
- Ability to read and identify abnormal arrhythmias and arrhythmia interpretation is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Has a thorough understanding of pacemaker and ICD technology. Maintain competency in evaluating and programming all devices currently implanted in group device clinic patients.
- Is able to access device company resources (e.g. local reps, technical services, device manuals and publications) to acquire and maintain skills and knowledge necessary for maintaining competency.
- Attends in-services, conferences and keeps abreast of current literature regarding cardiac devices and related cardiology.
- Exhibits a thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, disease processes and treatments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, specific to electrophysiology, cardiac anatomy and physiology, and cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Exhibits a thorough knowledge of various cardiac medications.
- Ability to simultaneously maneuver multiple projects and priorities.
- Must be willing to travel to multiple offices and/or hospital locations to accomplish research, clinical and administrative objectives.
- Possesses strong organizational and time management skills.
- Maintains ACLS competency and initiates ACLS and other emergency care as necessary and appropriate.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills.
