Summary:
The instrument Tech cleans and sterilizes instruments assuring availability for next case.
Examines instruments and equipment for breakage or deterioration and polishes instruments as needed.
Monitors items sent out for repair or sharpening and communicates disposition to other clinical staff.
Prepares instrumentation and supplies for sterilization by wrapping or peel pouching accordingly.
Maintains accountability for instruments of assigned specialties through communication and coordination with surgical technicians.
Maintains inventory log of all instruments for each surgical specialty.
Maintains equipment to include autoclaves and ultrasound.
Performs daily A-test's on all autoclaves.
Maintains and updates instrument count sheets for tray inventories.
Maintains sterilization records for all autoclaves.
Participates in the economical use of supplies.
Participates in quality management initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Educational Requirements
- Central Sterile Processing certification required or grandfathered.
Experience Requirements
- Experience in sterile preparation, decontamination and sterile stores required
- Knowledge of regulatory and standards in sterile processing and AAMI Standards
- Knowledge of OR scheduling system preferred
