Summary
The Nurse Manager under the leadership and in collaboration with the Director and Vice President of Patient Care Services, is responsible for the planning, priority setting, coordination and evaluation of programs of patient care, and for oversight of clinical and non-clinical operations within the Perioperative Units: Pre Op , Post Op , and GI/Endoscopy. The Nurse Manager assumes responsibility for the management of fiscal and material resources. Abiding by Sisters Hospital Mission and Values, the Nurse Manager has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the human resource and outcome management for designated patient populations. The Nurse Manager supports the goals and principles of the Magnet Journey, Shared Governance model and Unit Practice Councils, and collaborates with nursing leadership in implementing initiatives and processes that focus on staff recruitment and retention and staff engagement. This is achieved through integrating evidence-based practice and research into clinical practice and leading various projects that support clinical excellence. The manager supports, plans, implements and evaluates the goals and policies of Sisters Hospital and the Catholic Health System

Responsibilities
EDUCATION
- Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing
- Current Licensed Professional Nurse in New York State
- Baccalaureate in Nursing required or must be actively enrolled in BSN program with completion within two years of assignment
- Masters preferred
- Current BLS
- Nationally recognized nursing certification in related clinical area or leadership, or within 18 months of hire or acceptance of the role for internal candidates
- Minimum three years clinical nursing/charge nurse experience Leadership/management experience preferred.
- Demonstrates leadership ability and managerial competency; evidenced by: effective communication skills, conflict mediation skills, ability to develop and articulate vision for program of care, effective resource procurement and allocation, ability to mentor others in leadership roles, experience with fiscal management and coordinates the activities of others
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of unit personnel, as well as physicians, families, visitors and to manage the activities of a diverse group of professional, non-professional and clerical employees.
- Planning skills to develop goals and objectives in
- Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements as well as positive problem resolution.
- Creates an environment in collaboration with the clinical education department to promote optimum orientation and continuing education of staff.
