Summary & Objective
The Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions for assigned facilities of Catholic Housing Management. Responsible for preparing month end closing entries, assists in the preparation of financial statement and other accounting functions.
Essential Functions
- Ensures accurate processing of incoming invoices for payment.
- Establishes and maintains individual vendor files for fiscal period.
- Process Security Refunds for Tenants that Move Out.
- Responsible for the monthly closing of accounts payable and general ledger.
- Reconciles General Ledger accounts.
- Analyze and research variances.
- Determines monthly expense accruals for facilities and prepares journal Entries.
- Maintains accurate cash flow records for assigned facilities.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting documentation for management review.

Other Duties
- Conducts monthly audits and reconciliation of rent and miscellaneous income received as well as Housing Assistance Payments.
- Completes annual financial audits and quarterly / yearly federal payroll tax schedules.
- Determines accuracy of the reporting of each assigned facilities income.
- Reconcile Security Deposits Listings and Bank Statements.
- Formulate Journal entries from cash receipts and other source documents.
- Work with Controller in the preparation of Business Planning & Analysis to make recommendations on forecasts.
- Maintain your required licenses, certifications and mandatory skill updates.
- Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Provide other duties of team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
- May serve as an interim department leader depending on need.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250 pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc. if applicable

Requirements
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience in public/private sector preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of accounting within an organization or company.
- Knowledge of accounting federal regulations related to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
- Must have knowledge of computer office/accounting software
- Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
