Graphics Specialist / Website Coordinator (Fort Wayne, IN)

The Graphics Specialist / Website Coordinator is a skilled and gifted visual storyteller. This person is responsible for the overall layout, production design, and graphic creation for a multi-platform team that engages the Catholic community in the diocese and better connects them to their priests, their parishes, the bishop, and the entire diocese. This position is the primary page designer for Today’s Catholic newspaper and is also responsible for the layout of content within the newspaper website. This position is responsible for maintaining the electronic email distribution list of Today’s Catholic and updating changes pertinent to Today’s Catholic website and the website of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
This position will also be instrumental within the work of the Communications Creative Team to expand the reach of news from the Office of Communications and strengthen branding and community relationships throughout the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
Through collaborative efforts, this position will support and maintain the diocesan calendar in communication with the online bulletin page. This position will also provide expertise in graphic design and production of diocesan publications including but not limited to the annual diocesan directory, annual reports for diocesan offices, and other marketing materials as necessary. This position will support cutting-edge technology to increase levels of engagement with not only the local Catholic faithful but also in evangelizing to secular and non-Catholic communities as well.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Present a positive, professional image of the Diocese through relationships built with parishes, schools, other Catholic entities, and businesses within the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
- Promote local Catholic engagement with the Office of Communications through relationship building and offering communications and marketing resources.
- As a full participant in the Office of Communications Creative Team, this position helps to develop concepts and ideas for advertising and marketing materials and campaigns and generates ideas with other members of the creative team.
- Reports regularly to Secretariat Director of Communication on content progress.
- Be able to utilize, or be familiar with Mac design software including (but not limited to) InDesign, Photoshop, Word Press, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Designs page layout of Today’s Catholic newspaper on a weekly basis, incorporating news features, editorial content, and advertising to convey the mission of Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades.
- Uploads digital content in a timely manner to multiple websites for Today’s Catholic & Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
- Engage with multiple social media platforms. Be able to design, create, and implement social media marketing campaigns.
- Participate in ongoing training efforts to develop personally and professionally.
- Maintains electronic email distribution for Today’s Catholic digital subscriptions through MailChimp.
- Designs ads as requested by Bishop Rhoades for special projects.
- Maintain diocesan web calendar and update contact information for all parishes and schools.
- Manages production, layout, and design of annual diocesan directory.
- Produce annual reports for diocesan offices as necessary.
- Work with Secretariat Director to establish and build an environment of Catholic storytellers to promote evangelization through the diocese.
- Work interactively between multiple departments to facilitate effective marketing & promotional materials.
- Respond promptly to all calls requesting general information.
- Participate in staff meetings, diocese program events, fundraising events, and other training activities as required by Secretariat.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or Administration with at least 3-4 years prior experience in marketing, sales, communication or a relevant combination of education and experience.
Two years direct experience with supervision and / or management experience. Demonstrated experience in the use of a computer to word process, access / update database information, and manage communication processes.
