Job Summary and Qualifications
Assists the Director of Accounting – Healthcare System in the reporting of System’s Financial Operations. Supports the main purpose of the accounting department in maintaining sound financial policies for the System. Interacts annually and as required with independent audit firm for financial statement preparation. Supports internal financial statement preparation, monthly variance reporting, operational budgeting and capital budgeting.
Essential Functions:
Prepares, inputs and logs standard and general journal entries on a monthly basis for all entities under the Healthcare System.
Prepares balance sheet, income and expense account reconciliations on a monthly basis. Maintains ongoing documentation of the account history and verifies the validity of its contents.
Calculates, verifies and records monthly accruals.
Prepares billings to clients for all non-patient AR and monitors their receivables. Maintains and reconciles accounts receivable balances to detailed registers.
Reviews procedures regarding cash input to the A/R system and maintains daily cash logs for deposits with practices. Reconciles deposits between the cash and A/R accounts. Performs routine audits of petty cash at practice locations.
Verifies and records activity on debt balances, interest expense and bond trustee funds including: reconciliation to GL balances, debt covenant ratio calculation, and calculation of current portion.
Prepares monthly reconciliation of patient AR and revenue to the general ledger.
Assists in the preparation of the annual budget.
Assists with the preparation of year-end audit schedules and assists with interim and year-end audits, responding to questions from auditors as needed.
Analyzes revenue and expense postings, comparing budget to actual results, on a monthly basis.
Researches items identified during preliminary review by the Controller and the Director of Accounting.
Assists in system maintenance and report generation on various applications.
Secondary Functions:
Assists in financial analysis of various accounting applications. Identifies and corrects problems and recommends corrective measures.
Works with specific assignments under supervisor’s direction on evaluating current procedures used by accounting personnel to determine ways of increasing productivity. Finding ways to do processes better.
Works within policies, procedures and protocols as they relate to the job. Participates in appropriate role in disasters, fire drills, fires and other emergency situations.
Exercises care in the operation and use of equipment and reference materials. Performs routine cleaning and preventative maintenance to ensure continued functioning of equipment. Maintains work areas in a clean and organized manner.
Complies with all established company and departmental policies and procedures.
Ensures confidentiality of employee, legal, client/patient, budget and all company matters. Maintains good communications, establishes and maintains positive working relationship with co-workers and department heads.
Performs similar or related duties for CMC and subsidiaries as assigned or directed.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
One to two years’ experience in accounting required.
