What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - OBS/Short Stay Unit position at Catholic Medical Center?
Who You Are:
RNs in an Observation/short-stay unit provide care for patients requiring monitoring and evaluation for a short period, typically between 24 to 48 hours. These patients do not need full hospital admission but require more than an emergency room visit. The unit focuses on assessing patient conditions to determine if they need admission for inpatient care or can be discharged safely.
You are a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse committed to creating a therapeutic environment for patients and families.
You excel in managing a range of patient needs, from basic to complex, and bring proficiency in critical thinking, patient-centered care, and teamwork.
What You'll Do:
Deliver high-quality care in the Observation/Short Stay Unit by assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Maintain thorough documentation in electronic health records, communicate effectively with the care team, and ensure patient safety.
Act as a mentor and resource, supporting colleagues in clinical practice, patient education, and professional development.
Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and the practice environment.
What You'll Bring:
Flexible to work an FT Nights schedule: 7pm-7am, 36 hrs.weekly
Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
Active RN licensure in New Hampshire and specialty certification as required by the unit.
Strong clinical skills, proficiency in electronic documentation, and the physical capability to perform essential job duties safely.
Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work 8-12 hour shifts, including weekends as needed.
A commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and providing compassionate, culturally sensitive care.
