Job Summary and Qualifications

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is primarily concerned with the general accounting functions of CMC Healthcare System’s financial information. Employs generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the financial responsibilities to perform general accounting functions, financial analysis, budget preparation and monitoring.

Essential Functions:

• 
  Prepares monthly journal entries, for CMC and related affiliate companies, with the supporting documentation ensuring they are completed accurately and timely to meet the monthly close deadlines. CMC affiliates include, CMC Physician Practice Associates, McGregor Street MOB, Alliance Resources, Alliance Ambulatory Services, St. Peter’s Home and Alliance Health Services.

• 
  Verifies and records investment activity including: separation of board designated, temporarily restricted and permanently restricted funds, reconciliation to G/L balances, review of investment returns and income allocations.

• 
  Prepares invoices for payments from the correct investment funds to ensure the vendors are paid promptly.

• 
  Provides data for annual pension audit and reporting including investment activity and fee schedules.

• 
  Prepares balance sheet, income and expense account reconciliation on a monthly basis. Maintains ongoing documentation of the account history and verifies the validity of its contents.

• 
  Prepares monthly invoices for non-patient receivables for rents and services including the collections of payments and posting them to the customer accounts for CMC and related affiliates.

  Supports the preparation for the annual 990 filing for CMC and the affiliates.

• 
  Assists with the preparation of year end audit schedules and auditor follow-up as requested.

• 
  Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules working within the fixed asset subsystem and reconciliation to the Property, Plant and Equipment general ledger accounts.

  Assists in the preparation of the annual operating budgets for assigned accounts and companies.

• 
  Coordinates for all grants-related financial accounting as part of the monthly closing process.

• 
  Assists in the financial analysis of various accounting applications. Identifies and corrects problems and recommends corrective measures.

  Supports and backs up duties assigned to other Accounting Staff.

• 
  Supports ad hoc financial analysis and reporting in support of reporting for leadership, committees of the Board, bond rating agencies, New Hampshire Hospital Association, AHA reporting requests and others as they arise.

  Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

• 
  Ensures confidentiality of employee, legal, client/patient, budget and all company matters. Maintains good communications, establishes and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers and department heads.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

• 
  Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting, or equivalent experience

Experience:

• 
  A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in financial accounting or auditing

Licensure/Certification:

• 
  CPA desirable but not required
