St. Joseph Catholic Academy is looking to add a positive, flexible, and faith-centered elementary school teacher. St. Joseph endeavors to build a community that represents the best of our Catholic identity while nurturing learners to the promise we see in each of them. The teacher provides detailed lesson plans and guides students as they progress in their learning. The teacher reports to the principal and is an extension of our team as we interact with the community. This job is a full-time position.
Ministerial Character
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors, presidents, and principals serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities.
Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church.

Responsibilities
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of St. Joseph Catholic Academy.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
- Follow instruction set by the classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on the adopted curriculum.
- Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
- Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
- Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies.
- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
- Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation
- Able to work well with others in the school community
- Ability to manage student behavior in a classroom setting.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Skill in job-appropriate technology
- Skill in managing conflicts effectively
- Skill in organizational management and delegation of responsibilities
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited American college, university, or equivalent in a foreign country.
- related work experience.
- English (proficient in conversing, reading, and writing).
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must comply with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout employment.
