Catholic Theological Union (CTU) is seeking an experienced HR and Payroll Generalist to join our team! The HR and Payroll Generalist will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the HR Function at CTU. This is a key position that will interact with all employees, including faculty, staff, students and leadership. Key areas of responsibility include payroll administration, employee relations and performance management, recruiting and onboarding, benefits and compliance. Some administrative support is required. This is a full time position. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
Areas of Responsibility:
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Payroll Administration: Prepare and process monthly and biweekly payrolls; submit 403(b) data and contributions after each payroll, process changes within the payroll system, stay up to date on federal and state wage and hour regulations, etc.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: Collaborate with hiring managers to drive recruitment for exempt, nonexempt, student, and temporary roles.
- Employee Relations and Performance Management: Serve as a resource for employee relations issues from hire through exit and manage the performance review process.
- Benefits Administration: Administer benefit programs throughout the year and manage benefit vendor relationships, including ensuring employees are added and removed timely, answering questions and helping employees resolve issues, and overseeing ACA compliance.
- Records and Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files, manage faculty contracts and appointment letters, and ensure HR policies reflect current employment laws and best practices. Prepare and complete various accreditation and regulatory filings as needed.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative support for Board Committees, assist with corporate reporting, manage and oversee office supplies and equipment, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of experience in HR and payroll, ideally in either an educational or religious setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and relate effectively to a diverse population, including faculty, staff, students, and board members.
- Experience with the Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and HRIS systems; proficiency preferred
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
