Catlin Gabel School is a coeducational, independent day school located on 54 acres in the West Hills neighborhood of Portland, Oregon formed in 1957 by the merger of the Catlin Hillside School, which had been founded as Miss Catlin’s School in 1911, and the Gabel Country Day School, whose roots extend to 1859 with the founding of The Portland Academy. The campus itself is a former farm with beautiful trees, fields, and plantings that has been modernized and upgraded over the years with new and renovated buildings that blend in with the natural surroundings. A Few Of The Role’s Highlights Include
- Lead & Support Literacy Curriculum: Implement a cohesive PS-5 literacy program aligned with best practices and national standards.
- Collaboration: Partner with teachers and administrators to design programs, model instructional strategies, co-teach, and provide feedback.
- Student Assessment & Intervention: Use data-driven insights to differentiate instruction, run daily intervention groups, and support diverse learners.
- Professional Development: Train and coach teachers on literacy instruction, assessment tools, and curriculum implementation.
- Resource & Progress Management: Maintain literacy materials, oversee student progress reports, and communicate with families through conferences and newsletters.
- Community Engagement: Work closely with leadership, assist in student supervision, participate in field trips, and contribute to the school community.
- This range is based off the current 2024-2025 Faculty Scale and will depend on education and experience.
- Master’s degree in education, preferred.
- Advanced study of literacy instruction.
- Five years or more of successful elementary teaching experience, preferred.
- Experience leading professional learning in literacy instruction.
