We are looking for Overnight Veterinary Assistants to care for animals and be an active member of our team. Full-time assistants are needed. Successful candidates must possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, follow- through, and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multitasking is essential and punctuality is expected
Responsibilities
- Treat each patient with the highest level of compassion & care.
- Perform basic nursing care tasks, patient monitoring, and treatments.
- Consistent Monitoring of hospitalized patients.
- Set-up, monitor, and administer intravenous fluid therapy including constant rate infusions and blood transfusion therapy.
- Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
- Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
- Remain current on CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
- Clean cages and walk animals
- Sterilize equipment, maintain laundry and clean examination tables and rooms
- Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
- Keep accurate records and logs Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot oxygen cages and other oxygen administration techniques.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals
- Excellent communication skills
- Patient and caring personality
- Ability to follow instructions properly
- Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs, birds, reptiles etc.)
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
- High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus
Hourly rate $19-$21.
Not available for remote work.

Experience:
- Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Veterinary assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
