We are seeking Veterinary Assistants to join our growing team. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, compassion, professionalism, and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multitasking and punctuality are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate care to all patients.
- Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with basic nursing care and treatments under supervision.
- Monitor and observe hospitalized patients, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Perform routine tasks such as cleaning cages, walking animals, and feeding patients.
- Assisting the veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with their appointments and surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and logs. We have fully electronic medical records and treatment sheets (Ezyvet and VetRadar)
- Prepare and clean examination rooms, surgical suites, and equipment.
- Sterilize instruments and perform laundry duties to maintain a clean and organized environment.
- Observe and report any changes in animal behavior or health to the supervising veterinarian.
- Assist with setting up and monitoring oxygen cages and other oxygen therapy methods.
- Assist in setting monitoring devices and equipment for patient care
- Fill medications following pharmacy protocols
- Process laboratory samples and preparations as indicated by the laboratory department
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar role preferred.
- High school diploma required; certification from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Patient, compassionate, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
- Comfortable working with animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Be able to stand and kneel for long periods throughout the day.
- Proficiency in basic animal handling and restraint techniques.
