Description:
This is primarily routine manual work calling for the efficient and economical performance of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks.
Work is performed under general supervision according to established procedures.
A Cleaner does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities:
· Sweeps and mops floors and stairs.
· Dust chairs, tables, and other furniture.
· Washes windows, walls, sinks, and other fixtures.
· Polishes furniture and metal furnishings.
· Empties waste baskets, collects and disposes of rubbish.
· Waxes floors.
· Moves and arranges chairs, tables, and other furnishings and equipment.
· Cleans clothes, equipment, and other laundry items using washing and drying machines.
· May load and unload materials, parts, or products manually or using a hoist.
· May shovel snow from sidewalks, stairs, and other passages.
· May direct facility users to appropriate areas and observe their conduct to report violations to facility rules.
· May open, close, and check building security windows, locks, and doors.
· May collect, fold, and distribute laundry and linen items.
· May perform minor maintenance tasks.
· May operate motor vehicle to travel from one work site to another.
Special Requirement for Appointment in School Districts/BOCES: Per regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required.
Salary:
$30,721 per year
Qualifications:
· High school diploma
· Commercial cleaning experience preferred.
· Experience with floor cleaning equipment a plus.
· Valid NYS Driver License.
