Job Summary:
The CDL Class B (or A) Swing Driver will primarily be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials to and from job sites. This position requires a versatile, skilled driver who can smoothly transition between different roles within our disposal and excavation teams. As a swing driver, you will support both sectors as needed, ensuring materials are delivered, picked up, and job site operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a CDL Class B (or A) vehicle to transport materials (e.g., waste, dirt, gravel, construction debris) to and from job sites.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper handling, and securing of loads.
- Maintain a clean driving record and ensure vehicle is in good working condition.
- Collaborate with the disposal and excavation teams to assist with on-site tasks as needed, including site preparation, material management, and cleanup.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle is safe and properly equipped.
- Assist with other duties on job sites, such as labor tasks or equipment maintenance, based on project needs.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, team leads, and other crew members to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class B (or A) driver’s license required.
- At least 3 years of commercial driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and assist with physical labor tasks when needed.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and on different types of job sites.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing work environments and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the construction, excavation, or waste disposal industry.
- Familiarity with operating basic construction or excavation equipment (e.g., skid steer, loader).
- Ability to read and interpret maps and project plans.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to sit for long periods while driving and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and assist with manual labor on job sites as needed.
