THE EFFC DEPARTMENT AND POSITION…

The OLP Clinician will provide individual and family therapy (as indicated) within a trauma informed, socioecological approach to behavioral health for youth in foster care. Once youth are admitted to foster care and participate in an initial, comprehensive assessment, they may be referred for trauma specific treatment. Upon assignment to an OLP clinician, the youth will engage in regularly scheduled (usually weekly) psychotherapy sessions to support a decrease in symptoms resulting from exposure to and negative effects of traumatic events. The OLP Clinician will work closely with the Core Clinician and the multi-disciplinary treatment team to support the youth in working towards their permanency goals.

The OLP Clinician will conceptualize a youth’s presenting problems from a cognitive-behavioral, family systems or alternative theoretical understanding of behavior and incorporate a trauma-informed, socioecological approach to behavioral health. Goals and objectives developed in the treatment plan will be grounded in The Attachment, Regulation and Competency Model while interventions may vary from Motivational Interviewing, CBT for trauma, creative arts, interpersonal, etc. The OLP Clinician will set anticipated dates for goal completion, at which time, additional goals may be added to the plan of treatment or treatment may be terminated.
