What are the responsibilities and job description for the Victim Services Advocate/Educator position at Cayuga Counseling Services Inc?
Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. in Auburn, NY is seeking a Victim Services Advocate/Educator to provide advocacy and educational awareness at Cayuga Community College and services through our Pack n' Play Program. The Advocate/Educator will also provide Violence Prevention Education and Awareness Programming at school districts and in the community including utilizing our mobile unit in rural locations to provide services. On call, after hours crisis coverage is required.
Essential Functions:
- Provide evidence-based educational programming to students K-12 in schools throughout Cayuga County.
- Develop and disseminate program awareness materials about program services.
- Create, schedule and facilitate ongoing outreach activities for program and service awareness.
- Provide services on college campuses and provide presentations to students, faculty and staff
- Provide coverage for the crisis hotline on a rotating basis.
- Participate on the Child Fatality Review team, assist with execution of action plans developed by the team.
- Process referrals and deliver Pack n' Plays to eligible families, provide education about safe sleep practices to families.
- Maintain statistics and report presentations made and materials developed and distributed as deemed necessary for various funding sources.
- Participate in program and agency staff meetings and committees to promote program services.
- Preform other duties as assigned
Requirements include:
- Associate's degree in human services or equivalent experience working in education, social work or related field.
- Familiarity with sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence as well as knowledge of the effects of trauma.
- Strong communication skills and public speaking skills.
