The Educator works in a variety of settings to assist collaborative partners to bolster the educational enrollment of nursing pipeline programs within the region. The educator is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational needs and initiatives of and with partnering schools. The educator is responsible for and can assist with training in stated programs both didactic, simulation and clinical facilitation. Develop the competencies to deliver didactic and clinical education to entry- and middle-level stages of the nursing pipeline. This position will work collaboratively with partnering schools and programs and work to continuously improve both the learner and partners experience within Cayuga Health System. The Educator effectively provides and promotes person-centered care, nursing education best practices, and learner engagement in a commitment to excellence. The position will include current expereince and duties related to the Registered Nurse (RN) role and will provide direct patient and family support and nursing care within their full scope of practice. This includes participation in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services for patients, families, and the community.

- Provide feedback that will enhance learner performance, satisfaction and continued development.
- Use evidenced based practice to guide decisions
- Relate to learners at and on all levels and provide education in an organized manner to all learners
- Act as role model, role modeling the mission and vision of the organization and the CHS Professional Practice Model
- Demonstrate standard precautions and infection control techniques in educational and patient care settings.
- Positively communicate with staff, management and other institutions regarding educational needs.
- Participates in learner evaluations, program evaluations, competency management and tracking
- Design, deliver and evaluate educational curricula
- Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Demonstrate initiative in remaining current on CHS policies, procedures and standards. Act as a resource to peers.
- Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.
- Be a resource for clinical practice and operational systems. Assist others and provide leadership in implementing the standards of the patient care.
- This position is shared hybrid role as an education specialist and working within a department as a Registered Nurse.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Master's Degree in Nursing Education preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience. Must be a current employee in good standing.
- Licensure: Currently licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Certifications: BLS
- Educational experience preferred.
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard).
- May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers).
- Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary.
- Must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
- Hybrid: Onsite at various locations within the region as well as remote work.
