Director of Activities - Various (Days/Evenings)

The Director of Activities will create and monitor activity programs designed to meet the needs of individual residents in the nursing home. Direct and train staff members to carry out programs and goals as designed. Coordinate and manage volunteers. Manage resident shopping needs. Create an understanding of the need for resident activities within the facility and the community.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement compassionate activity programs tailored to residents' needs and maintain genuine engagement with elderly individuals.
- Schedule and complete bi-monthly shopping trips for residents' personal items.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure effective group programs, individual activities, and overall department operations.
- Design and oversee a monthly calendar of events addressing various needs (recreation, cognitive, physical, social, creative, and spiritual) and provide necessary supplies for independent activities.
- Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, review and update departmental policies, and manage volunteer staff recruitment, training, and placement.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Recreation and Leisure or a related field, or 60 college semester credits and two years activity experience, or 30 college semester credits and four years activity experience, or 12 semester college credits plus the NAAP/NCCAP 90-hour basic education course and 90-hour practicum, or 90-hour advanced management course plus three years activity experience.
- Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist who is eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist by a recognized accrediting body on or after August 1, 1989; or
- Two years of experience in an age-appropriate social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a patient or resident activities program in a health care setting; or
- Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.

Pay Range Disclosure:
- $52,000 to $62,400 per year
