Position Title: Mental Health Counselor

Anticipated Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30A-4:30P, Some weekends and eves
Job Summary:
The Mental Health Counselor manages the day to day mental health portion of client's treatment plans working closely with our consulting psychiatrist as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications:
LCSW/LMSW/LMHC with a minimum 3 years of experience with an OASAS certified facility, hospital ER, ICU, detox or related experience treating mental health issues in a behavioral health setting.
Desired Qualifications:
5 years of experience working in a hospital-based mental health setting, private practice or non-profit
organization. Experience working in a detox setting and/or SUD treatment center desired. Proficiency in
the use of eMAR and EMR desired.
Knowledge:
Familiar with OASAS regulations, Medicaid regulations, insurance regulations, referral source reporting, QIP process, and the therapeutic process. Proficient in the use of EMR software (CARS EMR is myEvolv).
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, crisis intervention skills, ability to maintain healthy and appropriate treatment boundaries, utilization of computer for documentation and communication, ability to be a proactive team player, able to represent the agency well.
Key Tasks:
- Provide research-based mental health assessments of new admissions.
- Case management for clients presenting with mental health issues.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups ranging from small group coaching to didactic sessions, as well as implementation of existing curricula to engage clients in goal setting and support individual treatment planning activities. Maintain fidelity to the treatment model with special emphasis on adherence to the Matrix Model, Family Educational Model and other Mental Health/Addiction treatment best practices.
- Facilitate/participate as a collaborative team member in IDT meetings, maintaining regular communication with team members, other providers and staff to ensure proper coordination of service.
- Document assessments, group program and individual notes and clinical visit summaries in myevolv EMR as required by regulatory, government and funding bodies, and maintain case records and statistical data required for management information, billing and treatment evaluation.
Additional Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Assist in completion of initial evaluations in a timely fashion as defined in OASAS Part 820
- Assist in development/augmentation of comprehensive treatment plans related to management of psychiatric issues and co-morbidity with chemical dependency diagnoses.
- Recommends, as appropriate, mental health treatment options.
