The Virtual Safety Monitor provides continuous remote observation and verbal redirection to ensure patient safety. This role emphasizes maintaining patient dignity and privacy while promptly communicating with on-site staff about any immediate safety concerns. The position requires adherence to patient confidentiality and institutional policies.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Operate the TeleSitter® system, maintaining continuous observation and verbal redirection for up to 16 patients simultaneously.
- Communicate behavioral changes to on-site staff promptly and clearly.
- Participate in shift reports, sharing and reviewing pertinent patient information.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address patient safety concerns.
- Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and environmental safety at all times.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma, G.E.D, or equivalent experience with general knowledge of hospital operations.
- Completion of hospital orientation and training.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in patient care, hospital environments, or a related field.
- Proficiency in operating computer systems and multitasking.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to use microphones, headsets, and webcams.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and basic computer applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous visual monitoring of digital displays with the ability to remain alert for prolonged periods.
- Frequent verbal communication using audio devices.
- Light physical tasks, such as adjusting computer equipment (less than 10 pounds).
- Cognitive ability to multitask and prioritize simultaneous safety concerns effectively.
- Work is performed in a remote or office-based setting with minimal environmental exposure.
Location, Travel, and Shift Requirements:
- Onsite: Cayuga Medical Center- 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850
- Shift: 7pm - 7am and rotating weekends
- 0% Travel can be expected in this role
Pay Range Disclosure:
Standard Rate of $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
