What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pathologist Assistant position at Cayuga Medical Center?
Position Purpose
Laboratory professional responsible for gross exam of surgical pathology specimens (including frozen section preparations) and complex surgical resections and autopsies. Additionally, manages the operations of the Core Pathology department, including budget input, and management, supervises histotechnician, cytotechnologists, and assigned laboratory technicians, compliance, quality assurance, SOP development and project management.
Ensures NYS staffing compliance standards are met in scheduling staff. May need to personally augment staff to meet compliance requirement.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to Admin. Director. Clinical work is directly supervised by Pathologist.
Employment Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Science
- Master of Pathology Assistant from NAACLS approved program
- Certification as Pathologist Assistant, ASCP
- Must meet NYS licensing requirements for CLT Supervisor (MT w/4yrs with Masters)
Salary : $30 - $39
