Reports To : Sr. Director of Quality and R&D

FLSA Status : Salaried / Exempt

Job Grade : 10

Pay Range : $89,000-$148,000

Position Overview :

The Sanitation Manager oversees sanitation programs, ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, NY AG & Markets, and company policies. This role optimizes cleaning efficiency, ensures food safety, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain hygienic conditions and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop, implement, and manage sanitation programs and procedures.
  • Lead capital projects related to sanitation and cleaning processes.
  • Define, track, and communicate sanitation KPIs for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and validations to ensure sanitation effectiveness.
  • Manage sanitation scheduling, SSOPs, and documentation for compliance.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate sanitation personnel.
  • Oversee proper handling, storage, and usage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance teams.
  • Troubleshoot sanitation issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and manage sanitation budgets and supply inventory.
  • Stay updated on sanitation best practices, technologies, and regulations.
  • Serve as a key member of the Food Safety Team, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Food, or related field) or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sanitation experience in food, pharmaceutical or clean room manufacturing.
  • 5 years leading direct-reporting team members.
  • Strong knowledge of Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work across all organizational levels. This role is critical in maintaining food safety and operational efficiency in the dairy manufacturing environment.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to navigate all areas of the facility, including office spaces, warehouse areas, and the exterior perimeter.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary to safely perform job duties.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and carry out tasks throughout a full shift, with appropriate meal breaks.
  • Physically capable of standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, and crouching as needed.
  • Able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier objects with reasonable accommodations.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform job duties accurately.
  • Capable of assessing weights, judging distances, and working at various heights.
  • Work Schedule :

    Monday-Friday 7am-4pm with the ability to flex to other shifts as situations warrant in support of a 24hr / 7 day a week operation.

It is not typical for an employee to start at or near the top of the range for the position.
