Job Summary: Responsible for nursing care rendered at facility; supervision of nursing personnel of each unit; and other corollary duties assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.
Job Duties:
- Supervises Nursing care services and staff on all nursing units while on duty.
- Monitors staff performance to ensure that plan of Care of all residents is being followed, and that Nursing care is properly documented.
- Prepares the Twenty- Four (24) Status Report.
- Assists with planning and daily coordination of staff schedules for assigned shifts.
- Maintains Infectious Control Standards and provides education and support to staff and residents as needed.
- Provides first aid and completion of Accident Incident Report for staff and visitors; explores Accident/incidents of residents as notified.
- Coordinates laboratory, x-ray, oxygen services on the premises and records billing information for continuous oxygen use.
- Assists with orientation and training programs for staff.
- Conducts in service education programs, upon request.
- Ensures that high standards of care are met, and that residents rights are protected and personal preferences are respected.
Qualifications:
- Credentials as a Registered Professional Nurse with a current New York State license required.
- At least one year of experience as a Head Nurse or Charge Nurse preferable in geriatric nursing required.
- Organizational skills and ability to relate well with other staff and residents necessary.
- Ability to supervise and discipline staff and ensure that high standards of care are
maintained necessary. - Ability to communicate well (verbally and in writing), teach, utilize creative problem- solving
and handle problems diplomatically necessary. - Caring, respectful attitude towards residents required.
