cBEYONData is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Data Engineer with a strong background in data acquisition, wrangling, and engineering to support various data initiatives to support our federal client. This role will require an individual who is proficient in SQL (preferred) and Python, and has practical experience working with Army data systems. The ideal candidate will be a self starter who is able coordinate with individuals to understand requirements, work with individuals to identify and locate relevant data sources, collaborate with PowerBI developers to process the data into appropriate formats and then work those same developers to design intuitive and insightful dashboards. This role will support data integration efforts and play a crucial role in driving data-driven decision-making processes across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Army data systems such as Vantage and cPROBE to acquire, process, and clean large datasets
- Utilize SQL and Python to perform data wrangling, integration, and transformation tasks for optimal analysis and reporting
- Collaborate with PowerBI developers to design and implement visual dashboards that provide actionable insights to stakeholders
- Participate in an Agile development environment, working within sprints to deliver solutions in a timely manner
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to senior Government leadership, effectively communicating complex technical details in a concise manner
- Utilize problem-solving skills to address data-related challenges, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and integrity of data
- Document data workflows, processes, and solutions, ensuring transparency and ease of knowledge transfer within the team
- Support ongoing improvements in data engineering practices and technologies to ensure efficient and scalable data solutions
Requirements:
- This role may be performed remotely, however, candidates should assume that up to three days per week onsite at Ft. Belvoir in Virginia may be required in the future
- Secret security clearance
- A Master's degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of 1 year of applicable experience; or, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 7 years of relevant experience; or, a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of 9 years of specialized experience
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, transformation, and analysis
- Familiarity with Army data systems
- Familiarity with PowerBI or similar data visualization tools to design dashboards and reports
- Proven success in an Agile environment, with the ability to participate in sprints and meet deadlines
- Experience in briefing and communicating complex data insights and technical information to senior Government leadership
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize those tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working within the DoD or Army is a plus
- Familiarity/experience with Data Mesh and Unified Data Reference Architecture (UDRA) concepts
- Experience working with additional data engineering tools and frameworks
- Familiarity with data governance and security standards, especially in a government context
- Background in military or government data systems and an understanding of related processes and requirements
