What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Specialist position at CBF Bakery Systems?
The Procurement Specialist has overall accountability for managing the tactical side of the supply chain with a main focus on finished and semi-finished goods in a fast paced work environment. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to balance short/long term priorities and exceptional multitasking skills are a must for the position. Key focus is to have the right material available at the right time to support high on time delivery to both internal and external customers. The role is a key contributor to service level while consciously managing inventory levels and costs.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate with vendors for the best possible values pertaining to goods and services (price, payment terms, service guarantees, lead time, etc.)
- Work closely with Manufacturing to determine material requirements, write requisitions, place orders, send confirming PO’s and follow up with vendors as necessary to ensure we always have the required materials on hand to meet customer delivery dates.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Ensure all purchase orders are delivered on time to planned delivery dates.
- Works closely with receiving department to monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered/delinquent goods.
- Provide daily communication and feedback to internal planners & manufacturing personnel as to delivery dates, delays, and or process problems.
- Attend meetings as requested or required to provide the most current delivery information while obtaining manufacturing requirements.
- Communicate to suppliers any increases/decreases/ scheduling alignments or changes to production requirements and assess impact to both suppliers and the production team.
- Schedule/participate in supplier meetings/calls, review lead time, delivery performance
- Other duties as assigned
