Position Overview:
An Assistant Superintendent has the knowledge, skills, and experience to assist with the management of the day-to-day field operations of all aspects of multifamily construction projects. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the management of the subcontractors’ work to complete a project in a timely, and cost-effective manner, and for maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
Responsibilities:
- In coordination with the Project Superintendent, become proficient with the creation and maintenance of job schedule that defines the critical path and shows completion of the project according to contract completion dates and building turnover sequence.
- Management of the activities of multiple project subcontractors including coordination of weekly meetings, supervision of work put in place and corrections as needed, and punch list management.
- Assist with the preparation of the jobsite utilization plan for temporary facilities, material and equipment movement, staging and site access.
- Assist with the preconstruction surveys by documenting existing conditions prior to the start of any work at the site.
- Ensure that all CBG safety standards are observed at all times, including OSHA, HAZCOM and other applicable Federal, State and Local regulations and standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to safely navigate a construction project site including but not limited to walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs and climbing ladders.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of construction management experience in a field role.
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc. as well as safety and government regulations.
- Able to work and communicate clearly and effectively with a team including tradesman, inspectors, clients, etc.
- Ability to effectively work in both sector specific software such as ProCore or BlueBeam, as well as some experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- OSHA 30 preferred, not required.
- Must be able to work weekends as needed.
- Must be able to travel locally to project sites as needed.
