What are the responsibilities and job description for the Superintendent position at CBG Building Company?
CBG is seeking a Superintendent with the knowledge, skills and experience to manage the day-to-day field operations of our multifamily construction projects. The Superintendent is responsible for the production aspects of the work and is accountable for producing quality work that is constructed consistent with the standard's set forth in the project's contract documents, performing the work in a timely and cost effective manner, and for maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work environment. Superintendent job responsibilities include:
- Gaining a thorough knowledge and understanding of the project scope and its intent.
- Creating and maintaining a baseline schedule that defines the critical path and shows completion of the project according to contract completion dates and building turnover sequence.
- Reviewing the project schedule with Assistant Superintendents on a daily basis.
- Maintaining an up-to-date set of as-built architectural plans for the project.
- Providing leadership and direction to all site personnel including subcontractors, vendors, Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and hourly personnel.
- Preparing the jobsite utilization plan for temporary facilities, material and equipment movement, and material and equipment staging and site access.
- Performing preconstruction surveys by documenting existing conditions prior to the start of any work at the site.
- Ensuring that all safety rules and regulations are observed at all times, including OSHA, HAZCOM, and other applicable Federal and State regulations and standards.
- Documenting all daily jobsite activities and ensuring the site and its contents are secured at the close of each day.
- Notifying, scheduling, and coordinating work of all utility companies and owner subcontractors.
- Monitoring subcontractor work, and directing subcontractors to make any corrections to substandard work.
- Scheduling and conducting weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Generating and distributing subcontractor punch lists.
- Reviewing plans, specifications, and submittals weekly to ensure subcontractors are providing the correct work.
- Creating and maintaining a log of all orders and deliveries of CBG-purchased items.
- Determining causes and developing remedies when costs are not in line with budget, estimate, and/or reasonable expectations.
- Serving as the point of contact on-site for all owner and inspection agencies.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline preferred.
- 3-6 years of construction management experience in a field supervisory role.
- Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others, including subcontractors and suppliers.
- Working knowledge of the construction process, including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, and manpower.
- Well-versed in safety and government regulations (i.e. OSHA) with success in implementation on a job site.
- Strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and passion for the work and industry.
