About the role
- CBH of VA is looking for an LPN to work directly at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail. We are looking for compassionate and driven nurses who provide great patient care. Provide direct nursing care in a jail setting while observing and maintaining the requirements of security.
What you"ll do
a) Ensure prescribed medications are administered as ordered.
b) Apply knowledge of drugs and therapeutics in dispensing medications.
c) Maintain security while dispensing medications and be continually cognizant of the potential hazard of drug hoarding and trafficking among inmates.
d) Accurately document all medications on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), including patient declines or patients off the housing unit at the time of the medication pass.
e) Update the MAR as needed.
f) Accurately review MARs at each medication pass, identify medications that require reorders or renewals, and that administered medications are signed for immediately.
g) Assure medications are ordered correctly.
h) Maintain neatness of the medication cart, medication room and other work areas, stocks as needed. Ensure that the medication cart is ready for subsequent medication passes.
i) Maintain accountability for narcotic medications.
