What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at CBIZ Talent and Compensation Solutions?
Our client, a NYC based real estate owner and developer, is looking to hire an Assistant Controller.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Tax and Accounting Controller and CFO in overseeing the daily operations of the real estate finance and accounting department.
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Prepare and review internal financial statements as needed
- Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
- Manage the process of investor contributions, ensuring accurate recording and timely acknowledgment.
- Handle the calculation, preparation, and distribution of investor distributions.
- Maintain detailed records of investor accounts, contributions, and distributions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual property performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Provide support for acquisitions, lending and other corporate transactions as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with tax a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with investors and team members.
- Proficiency in Yardi a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Compensation is between $115k-$125k.
