Job Purpose/Objective
- Staff in this function are responsible for the development of strategic, client-centric responses to proposals, bids, quotations, or other documents describing employee benefit products and services in response to requests from prospective and current clients.
- Working under general direction provides insights and guidance to business units when responding to requires for proposals.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Review and interpret requests for proposals; conduct additional prospect research to aid in the proposal process.
- Create standard proposal content, language, and format.
- Write, edit and format proposals, presentations, and other documents to be client-centric and tailored to the client’s guidelines.
- Advise local offices on standard processes to be followed in determining whether to propose on opportunities.
- Assist local offices by sharing best practices and consulting on the process.
- Facilitate a retrospective assessment on proposals, and refine future proposal strategies, process, templates and training through interviews and team debriefs
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Proposal writing experience including experience in the insurance or related industry
- 3 to 5 years of related insurance industry experience including proposal writing
- Experience with CRMs, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, and the ability to quickly learn new platforms
- Organized, detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate with a strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Advanced customer service skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, meet deadlines and take instruction from multiple sources
- Proactive decision-maker with the ability to see the big picture
