Overview and Responsibilities
CBS News 24 / 7 is looking for a dynamic, innovative, and proactive producer that will be responsible for putting together a daily news block for our new weekend streaming show. The candidate will be required to work with the anchor and team in the control room to write and produce the most up-to-date stories of the day / week. The applicant will also be tasked with ensuring the program airs flawlessly. This individual will collaborate with the special events team to manage breaking news coverage during weekends, oversee video and graphic elements, and prepare the anchor and correspondents for streaming special reports. They must be a decisive multi-tasker who possesses strong journalistic judgment and the ability to remain calm in a high-pressure control room setting. They also must be willing to deal with a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Create a comprehensive and visually compelling news block for the top of show.
- Collaborate with newsgathering and other partners to curate material during the week for the non-news of day blocks of the show.
- Produce the show from the control room, navigating both live and recorded content.
- Prepare the rundown managing copy and the production of video and graphic elements.
- Communicate with anchors and control room team clearly and effectively.
- Collaborate with special events team on breaking news coverage.
- Oversee editorial and creative content for breaking news and special reports during weekends.
- Coordinate graphics, writing, and all other editorial and production elements for special reports.
- Apply strong editorial judgment with comprehensive knowledge of national and international news.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
