The Central Booking team is seeking a competitive Associate Editorial Producer to book guests for coverage across the news division for CBS News 24/7 Streaming including Evening News , CBS Mornings Plus as well as CBS News broadcast shows!
Key Responsibilities
This Associate Editorial Producer pitches and pursues breaking political news interviews in addition to general breaking news within the region (DC plane crash, Baltimore bridge collapse - as examples) developing relationships with lawmakers, members of Congress, elected officials, DC based think-tanks, agencies, and more.
The role involves traveling into the field for major breaking news when needed.
This position also fulfills a wide variety of political booking needs: from experts on day of air stories for Streaming coverage, to principal interview targets for broadcast shows.
Schedule:
Sunday to Thursday, 12pm to 9pm

Hiring Salary Range: $65,000.00 - 75,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of producing experience in a professional newsroom
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be willing and able to travel and work occasional overnight and/or weekend shifts.
- Degree or equivalent experience in broadcast journalism or related field
- Proven news judgment and experience chasing political and breaking news.
- Basic understanding of how Washington DC is set up (branches of government)
- Existing sources on Capitol Hill as well as campaign committees
- Watches CBS News programming as well as the competition and know what makes a good booking for every story
- Strong interest in a career path with political booking
- Is a self-starter who monitors their stories for developments and flags evolving information in real time to improve coverage
- Possess sound, unbiased news judgment, persistence, and a complete understanding of TV newsgathering
- Can optimally communicate internally across show teams and platforms as well as externally with guests and contacts
- Thrives in fast-paced and time-critical situations
- Is not afraid to make phone calls
