What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Producer, Assignment Desk position at CBS News and Stations?
CBS News is seeking an Associate Producer with strong organizational skills and editorial instincts to join the Centralized Coverage Team on its new Desk! The Coverage Team helps manage the way we cover stories across multiple platforms, including network broadcasts, CBS 24/7 streaming shows, Newspath, and Radio. The Producer will be the liaison between CBS 24/7 streaming show producers/ assignment editors and network producers, correspondents, and reporters across all news platforms. The primary responsibility is fulfilling requests for lives shots and pre-taped debriefs for planned events and breaking news.
The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of what it takes to produce live and taped segments, plus understand the logistics of scheduling live shots and balancing newsgathering. Logistics is just the tip of the iceberg. Coverage Team members should have the editorial instincts to know which segments are likely to be covered every day, so we have the right news crews in the right places. The Producer will also need to think ahead about which correspondents and reporters can do specific live shots and look-lives, A successful candidate is someone quick on their feet, highly organized and calm during breaking news, a pro at multi-tasking, a consummate colleague, and excellent at developing and cultivating relationships with producers, correspondents and reporters.
Applicants must be willing to work Sunday to Thursday, 1pm to 9pm.

Hiring Salary Range: $62,000.00 - 72,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required Skills And Experience
- At least three years local and/or network TV or cable news experience
- Strong editorial judgement
- Highly developed relationship-building skills
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic, quickly changing environment
- A focus on multi-media content
- Understanding of TV newsgathering and transmission technology
- Show producer or assignment desk experience
- Knowledge of regional television markets, CBS Owned stations and affiliates
- Familiarity with Wolftech or ability to easily adapt to the software
