What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Meteorologist position at CBS News and Stations?

KTVT-TV, the CBS owned and operated station in Dallas-Fort Worth (#4 market) has a rare opening for a multi-platform Chief Meteorologist. The ideal candidate will enjoy forecasting unpredictable weather extremes: tornadoes, ice storms, and dangerous heat. The candidate should have experience in live-tracking tornadoes or severe thunderstorms while in continuous coverage for hours. We are a First Alert Weather station, and the candidate must be able to deliver accurate and compelling weather stories/graphics that live up to the brand. We are focused on meeting viewers where they are. The candidate will lead our linear and digital weather coverage with a heavy focus on our streaming platform, CBS Texas. Strong social media and web presence are important. The candidate will also be required to periodically write and report weather related stories for newscasts. The candidate will lead a team of experienced meteorologists and storm chasers using the latest weather technology (WSI and Baron). Experience with AR/VR is a plus. The Chief Meteorologist will also be responsible for recruiting, training, and making public appearances.
Successful candidate must have at least 5 years on-air weathercasting experience within a TV Station and a degree in meteorology or related science. A CBM is preferred.
