OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
WBBM, part of the CBS Owned & Operated stations in Chicago, is seeking an upbeat, bold, and visually creative Newswriter/Producer. Are you someone who can bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table? Then this role is for you!
As a Newswriter/Producer, you should demonstrate excellent judgment and meticulous attention to detail. We are looking for newsroom leaders who will play a pivotal role in crafting and coordinating content for both traditional TV broadcasts and our growing digital-first platforms.
We need a newsroom leader who can be the backbone of CBS Chicago's promise, offering breaking news, stellar storytelling, on-the-ground community journalism, and weather coverage that informs our viewers!

Hiring Salary Range: $47,902.00 - 76,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Build and write informative and compelling news copy aligned with our news strategies; ensuring daily show production deadlines are met.
- Support the overall quality of the newscast, including spelling, fact-checking, balance, and fairness.
- Order graphics and demonstrate strong communication skills.
- Lead live on-air and control room decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with a team of journalists.
- 2 years of experience as a newscast line producer, preferably in a top 20 market
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism or a similar field
- Be knowledgeable in digital and social media platforms that attribute to station strategies
- Familiarity with the Chicago area is desirable
