What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervising Producer position at CBS News and Stations?
OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CBS News 24/7 is looking for a dynamic, innovative, and proactive producer that will work on putting together a daily live weekday politics show! The candidate will be required to work with the executive producer, anchor and team in the control room to write and produce the most up to date political stories of the day. The applicant will also be responsible for making sure the program airs flawlessly, helping to oversee video and graphic elements and prepare the anchor and correspondents for breaking news. This person will also serve as the EP’s deputy and work with politics editors and correspondents in the D.C. bureau. They must be a decisive multi-tasker who possesses strong journalistic judgment and the ability to remain calm in a high-pressure control room setting. They also must be willing to deal with a flexible schedule.

Hiring Salary Range: $120,000.00 - 130,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Build a comprehensive and visually compelling rundown alongside the EP and line producer
- Collaborate with the D.C. Bureau, newsgathering and other partners to gather reporting and curate the best material each day for the blocks of the show.
- Produce the show from the control room, navigating both live, recorded and breaking news content.
- Prepare the rundown, managing copy and the production of video and graphic elements.
- Communicate with the EP, anchor and team in the control room team clearly and effectively.
- Collaborate with the special events team on breaking news coverage and special reports.
- Coordinate graphics, writing, and all other editorial and production elements for special reports.
- Must have strong editorial judgement with comprehensive knowledge of political, national and international news.
- 5 years producing experience in a professional newsroom
- Applicant must have control room experience for a network, streaming or cable news program.
- Must have strong news judgment and experience with political and breaking news.
- Thrives in high-pressure and time-critical situations.
- Excellent writing skills: Accuracy, style, structure, and grammar.
- A self-starter that is able to enterprise ideas independently.
- Knowledge of ENPS is helpful.
- Must be willing to work weekends and flexible hours.
- It is preferred this position is in New York, but can also be Washington, D.C.-based
