Writer/Producer

CBS New York the #1 station in the Paramount portfolio of local stations, is looking for a phenomenal, experienced producer and news writer who is energized by creating high quality news content for all platforms!

Core Responsibilities:

• Manage end to end creation of news stories for all platforms, including editing of video
• Write conversational, factual and ethical copy that provides the appropriate depth and context
• React quickly to breaking news and weather
• Actively participate in editorial meetings and pitch stories regularly
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Collaboration through strong communication skills
• Exhibit confidence and adaptability in the control room

Basic Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience producing in a medium to large market
• Degree in journalism or related field preferred
• Must exhibit deep understanding of journalistic principals and ethics
• Must be a team player who brings a positive attitude
• Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Prior desktop editing experience preferred
• Must be willing to work different shifts, including overnights and weekends.
• This is a union-covered role.

Hiring Salary Range: $48,152.00 - 102,284.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
