Summary:
The Assistant Corporate Safety and Compliance Manager primary responsibilities will be to assist the Corporate Safety and Compliance Manager in his/her duties and to maintain compliance with the directives of the CBSL Responsible Care Management System (As Directed within the programs) and to maintain 100% accurate, complete, and easily accessible records both written and electronic, related to this Management System. Responsible for managing all aspects of written/electronic documentation specific to the requirements of the Responsible Care Management System, Governmental Regulation, and other areas as determined by Management. DOT Hours of Service records will be managed by the Operation and reviewed frequently by safety, and to perform on-site safety audits as directed.
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and the safety of our Production Operations
- Will assist fellow DOT Safety Manager with DOT Transportation Safety Operations
- Will report to the Corporate Safety & Compliance manager.
- Responsible for driving continuous environmental, health, safety, and security improvement through the implementation, certification, and application of the Responsible Care® Management System assisting the RCMS Coordinator.
- Provide consultative guidance and information to Leadership Teams on EHS performance, priorities, risks, costs, major issues/concerns and interpretation of regulatory requirements.
- Conduct facility risk assessments and workplace inspections to eliminate, minimize and control existing and potential hazards and to ensure all facilities maintain regulatory compliance
- Promote and ensure proper safety training, worksite audits, accident investigations and hazard control.
- Create, foster, and grow a positive safety culture within the organization through frequent interactions and operations with all stakeholder groups
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable industry experience.
- Functional Knowledge in regulatory requirements, EHS technical aspects (safety, industrial hygiene, environmental)
- General Knowledge of D.O.T. and Hazardous Materials Regulations
- Experience in one or more of the following fields: DOT Transportation, ISO’s, Tank wash, Bulk Chemical transportation.
- Experience in behavior-based safety training, auditing, and program review
- Proven track record in driving cultural change in EHS
- Must be available for minimal US travel.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft office or similar software applications.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

- Must be able to project professionalism and positive attitude
- Ability to perform research, reporting and analysis as required.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with the appropriate balance of attention to detail and the ability to visualize the larger picture.
- Confined Space Entry trained or certification
