What are the responsibilities and job description for the Urban Design Internship position at CBT?
Ideal candidates will possess the ability to:
- Revise documents under guidance of others
- Assist in the preparation of presentations including drawings, models, and reports,
- Assist in the development and coordination of urban design concepts
- Document design and/or technical ideas generated by others
- Assist in analyses of urban design, planning and use studies, and limited design layouts
- Guided by senior staff to aid in design, compile data, do area take-offs, prepare site plans/renderings, models and design presentations, conduct design studies, gather information, and solve vaguely defined practical problems
- Observes and participate in design discussion about the development of the design
Additional potential responsibilities to consider:
- Collaborate on sustainability-focused design initiatives, exploring environmentally responsive design solutions
- Research precedent studies to inform design decisions and project strategies
- Develop conceptual diagrams and infographics to effectively communicate design ideas; Experiment with advanced visualization tools and methods to create compelling project narratives
- Explore innovative approaches to integrating technology and smart city solutions into design projects
- Learn and assist with GIS mapping and other analytical tools to inform urban planning efforts

- Hands-on experience with project work
- 9 weeks participation in the summer internship program

Experience and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an education in Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Design, or a related field
- Proficiency in spatial and graphic skills
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Interest, passion, and an eagerness to learn
- Qualified candidates should have previous design experience
- Rhino, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and AutoCAD proficiency is required. Grasshopper, Enscape and GIS proficiency is a plus.
