Job Summary:
CBTS Enterprise IT Solutions Organization is seeking an experienced Datacenter Planning Engineer with over 10 years of expertise in datacenter design, infrastructure planning, and implementation of best practices. This individual will have direct experience in the build-out, migrations, and enhancements associated with Enterprise Datacenter Planning & Design. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HVAC systems, power distribution, cable management, and overall datacenter operational efficiency. This role will be pivotal in optimizing the design and performance of our datacenter environments to ensure scalability, reliability, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the planning and design of datacenter infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational goals.
• Develop and implement strategies for efficient HVAC, power distribution, and cable management systems.
• Conduct capacity planning and forecasting to support current and future datacenter needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, network engineering, and facilities management.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, and testing of datacenter equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental policies.
• Identify opportunities for improving energy efficiency and reducing operational costs.
• Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new technologies to enhance datacenter performance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in datacenter planning, design, and operations.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, power distribution (UPS, PDUs, generators), and cable management.
• Proficiency in datacenter infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, and TIA-942.
• Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, or similar are a plus.
Working Conditions:
• Primarily on-site datacenter based with some remote work plus travel.
• May require /- 20% travel to multiple datacenter locations.
• Ability to work in high-stress environments and handle critical situations effectively.
